About this artwork
From the small bridge over the Hinterbach stream, on which the name of the place was written in large black letters for the passing boats, an elderly man approached us to take the boat's rope and help us disembark.
We rounded off the summer evening on the terrace of the traditional Lipmann Inn with Beilsteiner Schlossberg Riesling.
The figures of the waiter in the vine arbor and the winegrower on the riverside path, in their disintegration, are… not the result of the author's delirium tremens after excessive wine consumption. They demonstrate the painterly transition from representational to abstract, here in the fourth frame the riverside meadow and the reflections of the houses in the water.
I'm so thrilled by this detail! It's a pictorial transubstantiation, like the New Testament's transformation of water into wine, or the Masterclass's transformation of wine into the blood of Jesus Christ!
Beilstein is truly my masterpiece.
