About this artwork
'Aurum' is translated from Latin as 'gold'. The symbolism of gold is associated with the Sun — a source of life and prosperity, both material and spiritual. It is the color of achievement and triumph. The artwork interprets the macrostructure of gold, revealing what is normally invisible. Depicted here is the electronic structure of gold, which consists of 79 electrons orbiting its nucleus. In Mendeleev's periodic table, this element also holds the…
atomic number 79 and is designated as 'Au'. The shape of a gold ingot is linearly formed within the composition, representing the classic form in which this metal is preserved.
Mixed media with genuine gold leaf and with an integrated artist-designed wooden frame.
