About this artwork
This artwork marks an important formative moment in my practice, where architectural structure and symbolic composition first came together. It reflects the foundations of the visual language that continues to inform my work today.
The idea of this painting was created as a retrospective. Lemberg is the Austrian name for my native city Lviv in Ukraine. Fragments of the old city resemble images captured by an old-fashioned camera - like a tint of… memories, music and poetry.
The painting is mounted on a high-quality wooden frame, which I painted at the front with acrylics to create a shabby, retro style.
