My first Music Machines were rather automatic, kinetic sculptures or constructions, with a primarily determined music information or melody saved in them, in their 'manually sculpted' mechanical memory system, sung by of chords, or pipes. Here, my aim was particularly to bring the dimension of sound and music into the ‘playground’ or field of fine arts, in order to ‘vivify’ or ‘animate’ the artworks`. However, later I started to create other type… of musical constructions, which are instead semi-automatons, or completely interactive artworks, in which there isn’t any such previously saved or ‘pre-determinated’ musical information, because these artwork-instruments state, ‘present’ and constantly ‘re-create’ themselves in the present ‘here and now’ moment, and thus they themselves help the individual visitor or player to create, or to perform in their own unique way, thus yielding and sharing the fresh and benevolent experience of instrumental play and the joy of free improvisation.
Zsuzsa Sztruhár, a Hungarian fine artist and composer, employs a diverse range of mediums, from painting to sound and kinetic sculpture. Her dynamic applications of metaphysical and ontological conceptualism, blended with traditional painting and sound installation, underscore her technique. Each piece of work, whether it's an interactive sound instrument or an audiovisual installation, encapsulates a tangible heterogeneity. Sztruhár's works embody a mysterious borderline between fine arts and music, stirring emotions associated with the complexity of life's spiritual journey and the poignant beauty of the universe.
