A curved form spiraling inward, like a giant, rounded pebble that feels good to the touch and would be pleasant to hold in one’s hand. It is not a classic depiction of a horse. As a counterpoint to the proud, noble bearing, a natural creature expresses a human emotion—humility, introversion, and introspection—that is so close to humanity that through its gestures we can draw parallels with our own lived emotions. It is not easy to stand up from this… position; for this reason, it may evoke a sense of vulnerability and helplessness, yet at the same time, we recognize in it the kind of sense of security that only a stable environment can provide us, where we can fully experience all our emotions. We can let ourselves go, just as we would in our own home. That’s why I love seeing it in our own garden so much.
Ágnes Nagy is a sculptor with a foundation in ceramic forming, passionately experimenting with ceramics and integrating materials like bronze, steel, and marble. She uses masterful, hand-built, layer-by-layer techniques with chamotte clay to forge one-of-a-kind, actual-size sculptures, blending striking simplicity with intricate detail and texture. Her works abstract the animal body into monumental forms, channeling both movement and mass, evoking fragility and dignity. Through her sculptures, she conveys a profound sense of reverence and spiritual unity, inviting viewers to meditate on creation, memory, and the shared essence of all beings.
