From the point of view of realization, this is a complex work: it is a photograph (photographic print) of a model, elaborated by me on the computer to create a very strong contrast between black and white.
The theme of black and white then expands to the entire work: the two sides, black and white, with two different types of fabrics, divided by a wooden profile with leaf gilding.
Then there are some embroideries made with glossy paint on both… sides that create movement (I always like to put movement in my works) but here the movement involves the spectator: only if the spectator moves then he can visualize the glossy embroideries by reflection of the light.
Even the title is actually a conceptual play: it is not called black and white, but rather Black and white. White is the name of a girl, so it becomes the name of the woman depicted in the photograph, but in contrast with black...
