About this artwork
With “Cinema”, Andrea Benetti pays homage to the universe of the collective imagination, evoking the visual and symbolic experience of the seventh art through his Neo-Cave language. The work, made of oil and oxides on bas-relief with a plaster base on canvas, presents a circular composition that ideally recalls the film or the mechanical eye of the camera, the center of a narrative vortex from which signs, symbols and archetypal forms depart. The… delicate and harmonious tones, combined with the material texture, give depth and visual rhythm, like moving frames. The stylized figures are arranged along curved lines that recall plots, paths, stories that unfold in time. The artist thus reflects on the power of cinema as a visual art, capable of narrating and impressing memory, and reconnects it to the first forms of symbolic communication of humanity, offering an original and universal reading of the cinematographic medium.
« The painting of the future was born in caves, since art has always been the most fascinating medium with which matter depicts the spirit. »
