About this artwork
As a former refugee I find migratory birds very close to my heart. They remind me of our struggle to survive. They seem elegant and carefree from the distance. Everything looks elegant and carefree from a distance. In crafting this artwork, I explored the delicate dance of migration through a blend of minimalism and realism. Using acrylics and oils, I captured the serene yet dynamic essence of birds in flight amidst stark, simplified trees. The…
trees are simplified because their presence is not important. For the hurried flaps of little wings passing by these trees, the trees are already a thing of the past. This piece invites the viewer to ponder the beauty and resilience of nature's rhythms, echoing the freedom and transformation that these birds embody. Behnaz Larsen is an Iranian biologist and self taught artist based in Denmark. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as internationally. Creating in a realistic style with elements of surrealism, her works tell stories relating to heritage and belonging. As such, Larsen describes her works as allegories. She most often creates with oils on canvas or wood.
