About this artwork
In this work I bring into dialogue—or perhaps into conflict—two perspectives: the human one and the artificial one.
It is not simply an aesthetic comparison between an eye and a security camera, but a reflection on the power of the gaze and the very nature of seeing.
The human eye is presence, awareness, vulnerability. It is a gaze that interprets and loves. It is alive.
The camera's artificial eye, on the other hand, is a gaze without consciousness.… It feels no empathy.
The visual tension arises precisely from this contrast and a short circuit is created at the point where the two meet.
Who observes whom? Is technology just a tool?
The work doesn't aim to offer a definitive answer, but to suspend the viewer in this space of ambiguity. The power of the human gaze confronts the coldness of the mechanical eye, and in their opposition, a contemporary question emerges: what does it mean to see—and above all—what does it mean to be seen?
d-Egon Zuodar is a painter trained at the Brera Academy, deeply rooted in urban graffiti and a practice that ranges from wall to canvas, using spray paint, acrylics, and ink. His technique is based on pictorial layers and a continuous dialogue between figuration and abstraction, blending street instinct with slow pictorial reflection. With his style, he evokes emotions suspended between memory, identity, and rebirth, inviting the viewer to active and in-depth contemplation, never offering definitive answers but rather spaces open to personal inspiration.
