About this artwork
In this visual allegory, the work explores the relationship between man, the environment and the cycle of life through a symbolic representation of the three generations. The protagonists, enclosed in an oversized PET bottle, are prisoners of a world that never stops producing plastic and waste. Each figure, representing a different age of life, becomes the symbol of a humanity trapped in its own excesses, while the sinuous cloud of plastic that… envelops them represents a future in which pollution seems to swallow up every hope of freedom. The "message in the bottle", in this case, is not a cry for salvation, but a warning, an invitation to become aware of how much our existence and that of future generations are linked to a world that, through the uncontrolled consumption of plastic, is suffocating itself.

Gianluca Chiodi is an established Italian photographer with national exposure. Inspired by Italian operas, Caravaggio, and the romanticism of painting, he composes photographs that blur visual reality, fantasy and sensuality together into an irresistible, sensory aesthetic. In doing so, Chiodi explores subjects such as the human body and the power of its movement, the environment and its protection, and people and their vices.
