About this artwork
Early into this piece, Ernst was balancing an emotional place between calm and panic. She realized how important it would be to remain focused and deliberate beginning that moment, through the end of May, 2018. Ernst's husband had been asked to Seattle for a second interview in structural aerospace. A new house, maybe an apartment for awhile, new tutors and schools for her son, and a million things to button up on their house before it should be… shown. Excitement, dismay, uprootedness, and diving in to the void. She thought, "stay steady Today through May."
The deep 1-1/2" museum mount edges of "Today Through May" are painted as 3D extensions of the main image.
Materials : Acrylic Paint and Charcoal on Canvas , Prewired for Hanging
« If any brushstroke or scrape of the palette knife awakens the emotional part of your mind, the place where you visualize no tangible object you’ve ever known, that is enough. »
