The work “Peek” symbolically depicts the conflict between religion and the human inner self.
The figure with an anonymous face, hands clasped in prayer, outwardly conveys absolute trust and devotion; yet the posture—one eye closed, the other glancing upward—hints at the doubt and desire hidden within that trust.
Even in a moment of prayer, the inability to achieve complete faith reveals the tension between the absolute authority of religion and the… complex psychology of those who accept it.
Is the faith or authority we follow truly for our own sake, or is it another form of power that oppresses us?
Rather than simply criticizing or defending religion, this work invites contemplation on the very act of believing and the layered meanings it entails.
It is the hope that viewers, encountering this figure, will reflect once more on their own beliefs, doubts, and desires.
