About this artwork
Upon arriving at the trailhead, I checked the temperature: it was -25 °C. It was going to be a cold adventure today! After packing our gear, we set off on our snowshoes, immediately sinking to our knees in the snow as we navigated over a snowbank. We needed to blaze a trail to reach one of our favorite spots: an ice cave located 10 km away. Soon, we encountered a freshly frozen creek, and we crossed it using various techniques, including the crab…
crawl, the fireman carry, and the spiky crawl. Thankfully, we all made it across safely. To avoid our next hazard, an avalanche chute, we decided to bypass the main trail and ventured into the forest, enjoying some childhood fun by sliding down a hill on our backsides. When we finally arrived at the cave, I was captivated by the snow cornice at the entrance. In this piece, I explore textures that evoke both fragility and strength. For me, this piece showcases a contemplative calm and timeless elegance.
