About this artwork
In my collage BRICKS | 1|5, I work with vertical bricks that stand in space like fragmented architectural pillars. Against the black background, they appear isolated and almost weightless. On these structures, I have placed small human figures climbing, hanging, or clinging to the edges. This creates a tension between the massive materiality of the bricks and the fragility of the human bodies. The figures appear tiny compared to the tall blocks and…
are depicted in situations of holding, searching, or ascending. For me, this evokes an image of effort, balance, and the attempt to position oneself within an environment defined by rigid structures. At the bottom center of the image, a woman gazes upwards, observing. This element brings a poetic dimension to the work and opens a moment of stillness within the vertical tension.
