About this artwork
I interpreted "Macbeth", one of the most famous and quoted Shakespearean tragedies, whose operatic version was set to music by Giuseppe Verdi. The painting, which also represents a tribute to the great conductor Riccardo Muti, offers thin but dense brushstrokes rich in pictorial matter, in which deep human emotions vibrate, exploring the lights and shadows of the psyche. Made with oil on hardboard, it is an expressionist journey into the human condition:… each brushstroke is imbued with pathos, illustrating the inner conflict and drama. The vigorous realism of the subjects contrasts with the expressiveness of the colors and their emotional tension. The vehemence of the vivid and saturated colors infuse power and extraordinary energy to the scene, where the atmosphere of lightning and thunder that frames a dark Scotland of the early Middle Ages also takes shape. This painting will bring an energy of reflection and a deep visual narrative into the home environment.
« 'Beauty will save the world' by Dostoevsky is a symbolic phrase for me because of the therapeutic, magical, and mysterious content inherent in the logic of art. »
