About this artwork
Time jump
I first painted over an old painting of a stately home—a symbol of past splendor—with circles in bold colors, a modern break with tradition. Then I divided the picture into two colored areas.
But the story doesn't stop there: A question mark and an exclamation mark appear, calling the intervention itself into question. Thus, my work becomes a "leap in time" that demonstrates that not only history but also its interpretation can be renegotiated… at any time.
For you as a viewer—and when it hangs on your wall—it can be just that: a daily impulse to look behind the facade, to reinterpret contrasts, and to question symbols—proof that art can do more than depict the past.
My work arises from a fascination with ambivalence. Trust-distrust, freedom-order, reason-emotion, closeness-isolation and much more, all at the same time. This perspective stems from 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and creative mind in my trade fair construction company, where responsibility, economics, structure and creative design and thinking were inextricably linked. In my works I translated these tensions into images - decisively and openly to resonance. I paint lived ambivalences.
