About this artwork
"City Whispers" was created based on a roughly 50-60-year-old oil painting that I found in a flea market. The scene with the bellowing stag appears powerful—yet from another, long-gone era. By adding a skyline and fresh colors, I bring the work into the present. The city has grown, still distant, perhaps just a shimmer in the fog. But it is already there—quiet but unstoppable. I also replaced the old, unsightly frame with a simple, modern black frame… with a shadow gap.
The painting addresses the quiet tension between nature and urbanity, between tradition and renewal. From my series Urban Poetry
My work arises from a fascination with ambivalence. Trust-distrust, freedom-order, reason-emotion, closeness-isolation and much more, all at the same time. This perspective stems from 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and creative mind in my trade fair construction company, where responsibility, economics, structure and creative design and thinking were inextricably linked. In my works I translated these tensions into images - decisively and openly to resonance. I paint lived ambivalences.
