About this artwork
Based on nude drawings for which a pregnant woman had sitter, this figure was created from a mahogany plank that was glued three times to achieve the necessary volume.
I tried to translate the grace and beauty of a pregnant woman into a form, enraptured by inspiration, embarrassed, and helpless with inability. But the even wood helped. The figure is signed without a date because for a long time I doubted whether I could leave it as it was.
