About this artwork
In this composition structured by geometric forms, Stéphanie Bardy creates a tension between two opposing regimes: that of confinement and that of circulation.
On the left, a stable, almost anthropomorphic red form is inscribed within a constrained space, traversed by horizontal lines that evoke both barriers and attempts at connection. This figure seems contained, isolated, kept at a distance.
On the right, the forms open up and unfold in a… more fluid movement. The curves and colored overlays establish a dynamic of circulation, like a landscape in continuous transformation.
The work is based on this coexistence without contact: two spaces, two states, facing each other without ever meeting. Stéphanie Bardy extends her exploration of the notions of separation, threshold, and thwarted relationship, in a visual style that is both rigorous and sensitive.
Stéphanie Bardy works primarily with collage, drawing on a rich background spanning Parisian art schools and experience in children's publishing. Her works are contemporary abstract art, with intuitive, graphic compositions that combine the power of geometric shapes with the vibrancy of bold colors. She cuts, assembles, and superimposes each fragment like a musical score, balancing symmetry and freedom. Her art invites contemplation and a silent, personal dialogue, seeking to make the invisible perceptible, while conveying intense emotions and poetry beyond narrative.
