About this artwork
This painting was born from a moment of reckoning. In January 2019, I arrived in Brazil—a land of breathtaking biodiversity and cultural richness. By August, the fires in the Amazon had surged to devastating levels, casting a shadow over the dry season and igniting a global outcry. This work is my response to that crisis.
The girl running through the field is more than a figure—she is a question. Will future generations run toward the healing of… our planet, or be forced to flee from its collapse? Her movement is both urgent and uncertain, embodying the fragile hope that still flickers amid environmental despair. She represents the vulnerability of youth and the resilience of spirit.
This painting is an invitation—to feel, to question, and to remember that beauty and destruction often coexist.
It is my heartfelt embrace of the Amazon, of childhood, and of the delicate balance we must fight to preserve.
