About this artwork
With 'Blossom Silence,' I explore the silence of expression and the beauty of the unspeakable. I wanted to create a portrait that doesn't directly scream an emotion, but rather subtly reveals it. The blossoms covering the eyes and floating in the mouth symbolize for me both the silencing of words and the blossoming of inner thoughts and feelings that perhaps cannot be articulated. It's about a form of self-absorption, a turning inward, where the… outside world is perceived through a veil of inner beauty and mystery. The purple and pink tones emphasize a certain dreaminess and melancholy, which isn't sad, but rather thoughtful and poetic.
Artist Wendy Habegger combines her passion for painting and baking, specializing in acrylic painting. After a career as a baker and pastry chef, she combines various techniques and styles, creating a multifaceted visual language and deliberately pushing the boundaries between analog and digital aesthetics. Her experimental approach and her play with perception and illusion in the form of grid structures and overlays convey emotions, playfulness, and irony, as well as deeper themes of identity and self in the digital space.
