« My work always reflects an emotional response to the subject matter. This is essential in the creation of any piece of art and without that it becomes merely a pictorial photograph. »
John Brooks is a British visual artist who is currently living and working in Bristol, UK. Through his photography, Brooks wishes to project a visual and emotional response that extends far beyond the pictorial. His photographs, both analogue and digital, often employ a layering affect where a subject becomes doubled or tripled, thereby creating an illusion of volume, depth and spatiality. His photographs can reflect the imposing nature of urbanism and play with perspective to create an illusory world.
His other works include well though through abstract studies and minimalist works, some architectural and some topographical.
