Oil, Tar on Linen
12x9in
United States
Sol Halabi's work fuses the figurative realism of the female face with experimental techniques: oil, pigments, waxes, marble dust, and gold leaf applied in an alchemical process. Her pieces inhabit a threshold between reality and dreamlikeness, evoking a contemplative, intimate, and ambiguous atmosphere. Each work invites us to pause, to connect with the essence and mystery of humanity.
Born in Argentina in 1977, she holds a degree in Painting from the National University of Cordoba and is a Professor of Fine Arts. Since 2002, she has held more than 22 solo exhibitions in Argentina, the U.S., and Panama, in addition to participating in international exhibitions and fairs such as Art Miami, SOFA (NY, Chicago), Art Panama, and ArtFair Málaga. She was recognized as the country's Best Young Artist (2007) and the Outstanding Young Artist Award (2011). Her work is included in public and private collections in the Americas and Europe.
