About this artwork
Old Town. Autumn.
In this painting I captured a view of a small Slovenian old town surrounded by mountains. I was attracted by the quiet harmony between architecture and nature — red roofs, pale walls and the golden autumn trees glowing in the evening light.
I painted this work after visiting the place in autumn, when the air was already cool but the colors were still warm and alive. From a distance the town looks almost like a living organism:… the towers rise above the houses, the roofs overlap each other, and everything is embraced by the landscape.
I was interested not in precise architectural details but in the atmosphere — a feeling of calmness, silence and time slowing down. The mountains in the background create a sense of protection, while the warm tones of the town contrast gently with the cool sky.
For me this painting is about the warmth of human presence within nature and the quiet poetry of European towns in autumn.
