About this artwork
This painting was inspired by a personal moment. I created it after walking through Ljubljana on a winter evening, just after a heavy snowfall. The city felt unusually quiet, as if the snow had softened every sound and slowed the rhythm of life.
What drew me to this scene was the contrast between the cold, silent night and the warm light coming from the windows of the house. The moonlight and snow reflect a pale, cool glow, while the illuminated… windows suggest human presence, comfort, and life continuing inside.
In this work, I was not only interested in the architecture, but also in the atmosphere — the feeling of calm, stillness, and contemplation that winter brings to the city. I used textured, expressive brushstrokes and a restrained color palette to enhance the sense of silence, depth, and gentle evening light.
