About this artwork
The albino catfish is a unique animal in the river. Because of its rarity, the chances of seeing it in the wild are one in a million. This work represents the feeling of being estranged, or alienated.
The catfish self portrait was made on used cardboard because of its natural background colour, and because cardboard is a material which we often overlook. Something we consider packaging rather than an art material. In this painting, I wanted to showcase… that even materials such as cardboard have an intrinsic value of beauty.
