About this artwork
Walking old railroad tracks running beside my home very early morning in late September, sun just rising above the mountains, too early to have dried the dew. The Mullein, buttery yellow in July was now dried brown. I was startled to see orb spider weds strung between each head-high mullein stalk dripping with jewels of dew. I knew just how to depict the scene: I water colored 140 lb Arches paper in shades of rust, created linoleum stamps of railroad…
ties and iron rails, placed pieces of red paper tall stalks reaching to the rising sun, and topped all by sewing strings of beads. All was glued on heavy Arches paper then glued again on Ampersand cradled board and finally sealed with acrylic.
