This is a painting about the pleasure of arrival — the moment you sit down, the drink is in front of you, and the afternoon belongs entirely to you. I painted it from the kind of holiday memory… that stays with you long after the tan has faded: not a landmark or a view, but a feeling. Warmth, colour, the specific happiness of having nowhere else to be.
