About this artwork
A narrow street climbs toward an arch, warm ochre walls pressing in on either side. Green shutters, a red awning, a small figure on the steps — and above it all, a strip of deep blue sky.
This painting is part of my Mediterranean series, born during the lockdowns of 2020–2021 when travel was impossible and the south existed only in memory. I was drawn to the particular intimacy of southern streets — the way they funnel you forward, the way light… pools in archways, the way a single anonymous figure can make a place feel both inhabited and dreamlike.
The colour palette is warm and deliberate: deep ochres and terracottas against the cool blue of windows and sky. The brushwork is visible, expressive. Oil on canvas, 20 × 30 cm.
