“Gold meets all colors” is a multi-layered work at the intersection of painting and textile art, in which material, light and color combine to form a dense, tranquil pictorial space.
Delicate textile structures, hand-embroidered elements, and custom-developed materials overlap with shimmering gold surfaces. The surface appears both permeable and dense – individual color fields emerge, merge again, and are integrated by the gold into a shared field… of tension.
The gold does not function as a decorative element, but rather as a carrier of light and depth. It connects the different color spaces and makes the image appear in changing nuances depending on the angle of the light – sometimes subtle and soft, sometimes luminous and prominent.
The work has a quiet, contemplative effect and invites the viewer to lose themselves in the subtle transitions between structure, color and light.
Anke Pradel-Schönknecht uses textile materials as well as painting, collage, and mixed media – her creative path led her from classical painting through studies in textile and surface design to experimental textile art. With sophisticated techniques such as dyeing, printing, sewing, and layering diverse materials, she creates three-dimensional relief images and art quilts that combine tactile and visual stimuli. Her artworks convey curiosity, sensuality, and a captivating depth; they invite viewers to understand structures not only visually but also emotionally.
