About this artwork
I like to be inspired by poems. In the series "In the Mirror of the Earth," there was a poem by
Ulla Hahn, inspiration provider:
“Beautiful landscape”
Sometimes things happen
the sky
reveals his secret
in the mirror of the earth
shows us what
we left over
from the earth that once
his likeness was
In the painting "Celestial Tent," the lines "Sometimes the sky opens up" are my inspiration to paint a vast sky with a broad brush and palette… knife, stretching across the entire upper surface of the picture. It's important that it lies over the lower area like a tent roof—a kind of protective shield. When the oil paint is thinned with medium, a transparent layer of clouds is created, allowing the blue background to show through.
Anne Hefer works as a painter and draftswoman, using bold colors and impulsive work on canvas in her artistic practice, drawing strong inspiration from nature and memories. Her technique is characterized by the experimental use of palette knives and broad brushes; forms emerge intuitively, usually as abstract landscapes or faces, formed through spontaneous interventions and random processes. Her works reflect a deep emotional tension—between longing, transience, and the dreamlike, transforming reality into vision and fiction.
