About this artwork
The driving force is always color. The oil paint is moved directly on the canvas with a palette knife, partially scraped away, or spread with wide brushes. In a free yet serious interplay, forms emerge that could also be found in nature: river courses, uneven landscapes, green islands, cliff edges, patches of forest, cumulus clouds, and diffuse streams of light.
When painting, I accept leaps in scale; the free choice of colors, painting techniques,… and formats also give me the opportunity to express emotions. The perception of historical and contemporary paintings and images in the media ultimately motivates me to finally begin my work.
