In Quiet Tension, I explore the subtle, almost imperceptible tension inherent in silence. In this large-format watercolor, a reduced forest unfolds, composed of slender trunks and branching lines, underpinned by warm earth tones and subtle contrasts of light.
I am interested in the moment between stillness and inner movement – a landscape that appears still yet simultaneously carries a quiet, dense energy within it. The delicate branches crisscross… the image like a fine network, lending the composition a rhythmic, almost abstract structure.
Transparent layers of color create depth and atmosphere without defining a specific location. The reduced color palette directs the eye to form, light, and resonance.
