About this artwork
The image's tension arises from the interplay of perspective, light, and organic forms. The snow-covered path leads the eye through the darkness to a light-filled opening in the forest.… My original working title was "Light from the Deepest Shadows"—a thought that still resonates in the image today. For me, this work speaks of hope, orientation, and the quiet certainty that light exists even where shadows seem to dominate the space.
In my landscape watercolors, I am interested in those liminal moments in which nature becomes an emotional space for experience and light becomes the actual main character of the scene.
Annett Coumont
Germany
In her landscapes, she explores the emotional relationship between humanity and nature. Nature appears not as mere scenery, but as a place of memory, resonance, and cultural identity. A key starting point for her work is solastalgia – the grief over the change or loss of a familiar environment. Her watercolors reveal the beauty and fragility of what surrounds us and invite us to rediscover our own connection to nature.
Her works have been selected for international watercolor exhibitions, have received numerous awards, and are held in private collections worldwide.
