Absence here doesn't appear as emptiness, but as a negative presence—a space where what's missing remains palpable. A warm yellow opens the pictorial space like a field of light. It's a yellow of contemplation. A fragile grid of dark lines overlays this luminous surface. It defines a space without filling it. The structure seems like an attempt to capture something.… Yet the space remains open. What it might once have contained is no longer visible.
The yellow itself bears traces. It is a damaged yellow—a color that not only emits light but also stores memory.

Avni Alija uses a wide variety of media, including oil, acrylic, sand, metal, and even wood and pebbles. He originally studied natural sciences and completed the "Paris School" at the Hamburg Academy.
