The work "rekonstruktion-12" emerged from an engagement with Gustav Klimt's iconic painting "The Kiss." The starting point was a fleeting yet lasting impression: behind the golden surface and the ornamental harmony of the painting, an invisible center of resonance seems to be concealed. The intensity of the depicted gesture—the kiss—appears not only as an expression of affection but also as an ambivalent force. In its intensity, the kiss can also… be interpreted as a moment of engulfment, a gesture that oscillates between intimacy and overwhelming power. The work's creation process followed these perceptions. Through targeted interventions in the pictorial form, the apparent closure of the iconic representation—encased in gold and ornament—is disrupted. The intervention is not directed against the semantic level of the painting, but rather against its visual integrity. At its core lies a shift in perception.
Avni Alija uses a wide variety of media, including oil, acrylic, sand, metal, and even wood and pebbles. He originally studied natural sciences and completed the "Paris School" at the Hamburg Academy. He combines impressionistic plays of light and shadow with impulsive abstract color dynamics and conceptual art, uniting diverse techniques into a curious, exploratory style. His works are a poetic search for meaning, an invitation to learn to see, and an expression of inner contradictions and existential depth.
