I decided to create a warm portrait that captures a cat in a moment of quiet attention. The eyes lifted, alert, and full of soft curiosity. Set against glowing gold and amber tones, the piece feels sunlit and intimate, like a small pause in time.

Barry Sears is primarily a painter working with oils and mixed media. He returned to his artistic journey in 2022 whilst winding down his former career in Finance. He received his formal training at the Milan Art Institute. His process is deeply experimental, building vibrant imagery from chaotic beginnings and favouring striking, non-traditional colour palettes over realism. His layered techniques create depth and intrigue, while his work conveys a sense of inspired transformation, finding beauty and order within expressive bursts of colour and the ever-shifting play of light and shade.
