About this artwork
Everyone Does Their Own Thing is a vibrant piece about contemporary life. I wanted to capture the feeling of a city space full of people, each immersed in their own world. I painted these tiny figures using dynamic strokes of turquoise and black on a clean white background to highlight their individuality. Some are walking, some are sitting, others are playing or talking — all busy with their own lives, yet part of a shared space.
In this work,… I explore themes of isolation and connection, movement and stillness. For me, it reflects the rhythm of urban life, where anonymity and togetherness exist side by side. I arranged the figures in a way that feels both spontaneous and structured — a kind of metaphor for the complexity of human relationships.

Bogdan Shiptenko is a contemporary Ukrainian artist born in 1994 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. He works primarily with watercolor, acrylic, and graphic media, focusing on figurative painting and urban themes. He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and has over 15 years of professional artistic practice, with more than 10 years of international sales.
Shiptenko’s work explores the relationship between people and the urban environment — architecture, streets, cafés, and the everyday rhythm of city life. His distinctive style combines expressive watercolor and dynamic multi-figure compositions, capturing both the energy of crowds and moments of quiet solitude.
A central part of his practice is the long-term series People on the White, which reflects on contemporary urban society, human routines and overconsumption set against minimalist white backgrounds. Bogdan Shiptenko has participated in numerous exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, his works are held in private collections worldwide.
