About this artwork
Life in Motion is about the daily rhythm of a city where every movement has its own story. People are walking, talking, hurrying somewhere, some are standing in the rain, some are holding a coffee or an umbrella. In this work I wanted to convey the energy of the street - that constant flow of life in which we all exist.
For me, a white background is a space in which moments appear. Each figure is a small story, a fragment of a large composition… of a city that lives, moves and breathes.
In this piece, I captured fleeting moments of everyday life with vibrant gouache and precise ink. Each figure moves with purpose, embodying the rhythm and flow of the city. The minimal background draws focus to human connection and motion, filling any space with an energetic pulse that celebrates life's constant movement. It invites you to feel the heartbeat of the urban landscape right in your home.
Bogdan Shiptenko is a contemporary Ukrainian artist born in 1994 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. He works primarily with watercolor, acrylic, and graphic media, focusing on figurative painting and urban themes. He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and has over 15 years of professional artistic practice, with more than 10 years of international sales.
Shiptenko’s work explores the relationship between people and the urban environment — architecture, streets, cafés, and the everyday rhythm of city life. His distinctive style combines expressive watercolor and dynamic multi-figure compositions, capturing both the energy of crowds and moments of quiet solitude.
A central part of his practice is the long-term series People on the White, which reflects on contemporary urban society, human routines and overconsumption set against minimalist white backgrounds. Bogdan Shiptenko has participated in numerous exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, his works are held in private collections worldwide.
