About this artwork
This work is part of my series of anthropomorphized animals—surreal, humorous, yet with a serious undertone. Inspired by AI and the zeitgeist, I wanted to playfully explore the question of the vitality, intelligence, and legitimacy of animals, which are so often overlooked or undermined in our society. As a vegan, I often find myself in a space of tension that I can artistically navigate between humor, exaggeration, and deeper meaning.
The plywood… panels that I paint are not always flat. The hanging with visible screw holes at the corners (usually at the top corners, sometimes also at the bottom) is a deliberate detail that gives my works a decorative, stable and at the same time pragmatic effect.
