About this artwork
I painted this sky seeking to capture the fleeting nature of light as it dissolves between clouds and the horizon. In this work, the atmosphere becomes the protagonist: masses of color float, expand, and vanish, as if time itself were breathing through them. I work with acrylic on linen because of its ability to reveal transparencies and nuances; I am interested in the surface maintaining the vibrancy of the gesture without losing the softness of…
air. In the process, I recalled a phrase by Turner: "The atmosphere is nothing less than the very spirit of nature." That idea guides my intention: not to paint the sky I see, but the one I feel. Each layer of paint seeks to hold onto an ephemeral instant, that point where light and emotion merge.
