About this artwork
This vividly colored work reflects our present reality, caught between consumerism, self-presentation, and emotional emptiness. At its center is a stylized woman in a world of likes, emojis, and symbols of digital overload. The dog in her bag, though possessing luxury and care, remains visibly unhappy—reduced to a mere accessory. In contrast, a thin dog lies on the roadside in the background to the right. Both represent deprivation in different ways:… one material, the other emotional. The work poses the question of what it truly means to be seen and valued.
Constantina Seracin is a self-taught artist specializing in surrealist art. In 2022, she left her management position at a supermarket to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. By 2023, she had participated in her first group exhibition in Bad Tölz, which led to a contract with a renowned gallery. Her work has been featured in Merkur magazine and published in the Belgian art magazine L'Eventail. Another highlight followed in 2024: The artist won the ArtdeSuisse Cosmopolitan Prize, which included an exhibition in Lucerne and a feature in the spring issue of ArtdeSuisse. Her surreal works, characterized by vibrant colors and profound symbols, blend reality with fantasy and invite reflection.
