About this artwork
This captivating work of art reveals a profound exploration of human desires, emotions and the power of courage. The central figure, a woman with a mirror instead of a face, represents self-reflection and the search for identity. A moth beats in her heart, symbolizing the inner desire for change, while butterflies on her forehead and in her hand represent transformation and hope.
But this desire for change is not free flight - it is bound. An invisible… chain connects the moth to three powerful symbols: the rooster for greed, the snake for hatred and the pig for ignorance. These three forces form a never-ending cycle of self-destruction and, often unnoticed, influence our decisions and desires.
An impressive element reinforces the message: the cocoon of a butterfly is on fire.

Constantina Seracin is a self-taught artist specializing in surrealist art. In 2022, she left her management position at a supermarket to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. By 2023, she had participated in her first group exhibition in Bad Tölz, which led to a contract with a renowned gallery. Her work has been featured in Merkur magazine and published in the Belgian art magazine L'Eventail.
