About this artwork
In the midst of a surreal scene, a woman in a bright red suit sits on an octopus whose tentacles gently wrap around her, symbolizing letting go. Her face, however, is reflective - it is like a flawless mirror reflecting the world around her, a symbol of how our thoughts often only reflect what we carry within us or experience. The mirror surface is smooth and motionless, but captures everything that is happening in her environment, just as overthinking… is reflected in her thoughts.
On her head sits a silver ball with the word “Ctrl” engraved on it, symbolizing her inner urge to maintain control while simultaneously trying to let go of the burden of brooding.
Two buckets hang on their sides: one filled with acorns, representing positive thoughts and potential, and the other filled with glowing coals, representing negative, tormenting thoughts.
Constantina Seracin is a self-taught artist specializing in surrealist art. In 2022, she left her management position at a supermarket to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. By 2023, she had participated in her first group exhibition in Bad Tölz, which led to a contract with a renowned gallery. Her work has been featured in Merkur magazine and published in the Belgian art magazine L'Eventail. Artist interview in Sfumato Art Magazine New York + Solo exhibition / 2025 Group exhibition, Sakku Art Gallery/Dubai
Another highlight followed in 2024: The artist won the ArtdeSuisse Cosmopolitan Prize, which included an exhibition in Lucerne and a feature in the spring issue of ArtdeSuisse. Her surreal works, characterized by vibrant colors and profound symbols, blend reality with fantasy and invite reflection.
