About this artwork
Das Kunstwerk entstand 2023 am Seine-Kanal vor dem alten Waschhaus von Pont-sur-Seine, Frankreich. In den Jahren 2022 und 2023 bereiste ich verschiedene Länder. An jedem See, Meer oder Fluss wiederholte ich die Geste des Blumenpflückens als Zeichen der Hoffnung, Solidarität und Versöhnung für eine friedliche Zukunft. Daniela Melzig, an interdisciplinary German artist trained in Maastricht, Eupen, and Remscheid, creates transparent objects, performances, and installations. Her approach is characterized by the fusion of traditional glassmaking techniques and diverse media, including printmaking, painting, performance, film, and photography. This results in spaces of transparency and lightness, reminiscent of early photographic plates on glass, reflecting space and time in color and form. Her works embody transience and evoke memories, offering a space for the expression of timeless thoughts in snapshots of fleeting moments.
