About this artwork
This artwork was created in 2023 on the Baltic Sea near Heiligendamm. It was on this beach in 2001 that I decided to move to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Light and the sea have firmly embraced my heart. In 2022 and 2023, I traveled to various countries. Daniela Melzig, an interdisciplinary German artist trained in Maastricht, Eupen, and Remscheid, creates transparent objects, performances, and installations. Her approach is characterized by the fusion of traditional glassmaking techniques and diverse media, including printmaking, painting, performance, film, and photography. This results in spaces of transparency and lightness, reminiscent of early photographic plates on glass, reflecting space and time in color and form. Her works embody transience and evoke memories, offering a space for the expression of timeless thoughts in snapshots of fleeting moments.
