About this artwork
This artwork was created in 2023 on the Elbe River near the Dömitz Elbe Bridge near Dannenberg. In 2022 and 2023, I traveled to various countries. At every lake, sea, or river, I repeated the gesture of picking flowers as a sign of hope, solidarity, and reconciliation for a peaceful future. Photo: Daniela Melzig, 2025 in the studio garden.

Daniela Melzig, an interdisciplinary German artist trained in Maastricht, Eupen, and Remscheid, creates transparent objects, performances, and installations. Her approach is characterized by the fusion of traditional glassmaking techniques and diverse media, including printmaking, painting, performance, film, and photography. This results in spaces of transparency and lightness, reminiscent of early photographic plates on glass, reflecting space and time in color and form. Her works embody transience and evoke memories, offering a space for the expression of timeless thoughts in snapshots of fleeting moments.
