This image was an attempt for me to make density visible. The cranberries appear like individual building blocks, supporting and defining each other. While drawing, it became clear how little chance is involved in this structure: every curve, every minimal highlight defines its position within the framework. The motif became almost architectural for me—a compact structure that only holds together because every element is precisely positioned.
The… leaves at the top act as a calm conclusion, a counterpoint to the massive density below. My aim was to create a balance that isn't soft, but arises from inner pressure. A "monument" made from something inherently ephemeral.
For viewers, the work can offer a clue as to how stability arises: through small, clear units, precise decisions, and mutually reinforcing habits. It demonstrates that even inconspicuous elements can support a system when arranged consistently.
Dietrich Moravec, originally self-taught, maneuvered his way through old-master painting techniques to photorealistic oil, acrylic, and pastel painting. In his style, finely nuanced "color zones" meet sharp reality, creating precise still lifes that evoke a contemplative atmosphere in silence. His focus on everyday objects and their transient details invites us to reconsider the inconspicuous and pause silently in the flow of time.
