About this artwork
This work was born from a stay in the countryside, marked by a profound sense of calm and fulfillment. The silence, the purity of the air and water, as well as direct contact with nature, nourished this inner experience.
In search of an image capable of conveying this state, I was struck by the vision of a woman hanging laundry between trees, outdoors, bathed in sunlight and surrounded by an open landscape.
As is often the case, I tried to capture… this scene in my memory and then redraw it. The final image doesn't faithfully reproduce reality, but is freely inspired by it. Its primary aim is to convey the essence of that moment, evoking the simplicity and benefits of life in contact with nature.
Eduardo Sampaio, a Brazilian painter and draftsman, trained as an architect and visual artist, enriched by his experience in São Paulo and Paris. He adopts a contemporary approach while cultivating a deep connection with artistic traditions, mastering plastic principles and applying precise techniques to give form to tangible reality. Through his work, he evokes psychological tensions surrounding the human figure and its relationship to space, conveying a powerful emotional intensity about the individual experience in the modern world.
