About this artwork
Cacao Offering is part of my Strata series , inspired by time, memory, and inner archeology. While shaping it, I felt as though it belonged to an ancient ritual - something Aztec, where cacao was both sacred and symbolic. Its rough, layered surface recalls fragments unearthed from the earth, while the dark brown interior mirrors the color of chocolate, evoking its origins in the Americas.
Made of chamotte clay and hand-built, Cacao Offering embraces… imperfection as a mark of process. For me, it is less a bowl than a fragment of memory - a vessel that holds traces of ritual, mystery, and presence.
